This Mission is a partnership between SERA and Blue Origin. Together we are dedicated to opening up new opportunities in space for communities that have historically lacked access.

Earn, Influence, Support
Earn, Influence, Support

Every phase brings new challenges, rewards, and opportunities. They’re designed to test your commitment and connection to the community and strengthen the power of your vote.

PHASE 1: ASTRONAUT CANDIDACY

Mechanics
Mechanics

Phase 1 marks the official start of your race to space. This phase is focused on earning enough SpaceDust, SERA’s in-app currency, to claim your Astronaut Candidate badge. Unlocking it will allow you to claim a spot on one of six regional leaderboards, each with a dedicated seat on Blue Origin’s New Shepard rocket. The amount of SpaceDust you need will depend on the size and activity of the community and will be announced prior to the end of this phase. The more SpaceDust you earn beyond that, the better your chances of making the cut in Phase 2.

Progression

One global leaderboard based on the total SpaceDust you earn through your contribution towards building the community. This ranking boosts your visibility: higher-ranked participants are more likely to attract attention, gain followers, and build early campaign support.

PHASE 2: COLLECTIVE ACTION

Mechanics
Mechanics

In Phase 2, SpaceDust collection continues, and those with Astronaut Candidate Badges must complete a third-party KYC process to verify their identity and determine which regional seat they are eligible to compete for. Verified Astronaut Candidates will compete within six regional leaderboards, each tied to one of the available seats. Your leaderboard position will be driven by the amount of SpaceDust you can convince others to pledge to your candidacy. You may also pledge the SpaceDust you have earned to yourself.

Progression
Progression

At the end of Phase 2, the Top 10 candidates from each region with the most collective support will be featured in a regional community vote. The weight of each community member’s vote is determined by the number of badges they have earned so far. The three candidates from each region who receive the most votes will move on to the final stage of astronaut selection. Pledged SpaceDust is then returned to members.

CREW SELECTION

Mechanics
Mechanics

In the global finale, the Top 3 candidates from each region will be brought together and grouped into 3 crews of 6, with each crew including one candidate from every region. These final crews will take part in astronaut training experiences that will be broadcast on our YouTube channel, giving the community an inside look at their performance, teamwork, and readiness.

Progression
Progression

Unlike previous rounds, where voting focused on individuals, the final decision will be made by voting for one of the three crews. The community has the final say on who is going to space. The final crew will then report for training on the Blue Origin ranch in West Texas, 3 days before the flight.
